“Age Related”

The other day I received a mailing from a hearing company. It read, “You are receiving this mailing because you have now entered the age of population where age related hearing loss in inevitable.”

Inevitable? This got me thinking. Is hearing loss really due to age? Or are there certain things we can do to be proactive and protect our hearing as we go throughout life?

Are we buying into a destructive thought pattern of thinking things are just strictly “age related”? If we are believing that everything happens because of age, then we are going to start giving up because of a number that happens to indicate when we were born.

This led me to think “Why don’t we simply start taking care of ourselves?” That same mailing easily could have said “Hey we are offering hearing screenings!”

When we start believing things are “age related” we just accept impending doom. I’m choosing not to believe that and I invite you all to come with me. Instead, why don’t we start looking at how we can take care of ourselves to ensure we grow as healthy as possible?

If we can blame everything for being “age related” then it takes the responsibility off of us.

I am calling BS on that. We all get to take responsibility for how we treat our bodies and how we choose to live our lives. So many things break us down that have nothing to do with age.

Give yourself a fighting change. Take care of you: mind, body and soul. Let go of the phrase “age related” and take the responsibility for your own life back and spread the message!
