Confidence Versus Arrongance
Confidence versus arrogance.
Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing.
Being empowered does not give you the right to be arrogant.
Empowered people are not arrogant. Confident people are not arrogant.
There's a huge difference between the two. How do you see yourself do you see yourself as empowered? Are you ready to become empowered? And I was struck by one of the answers that said, that depends on what you mean by empowered. I don't want to lose my femininity. I don't want to come across as arrogant. I don't want to be the woman that no one wants to hang out with.
And it really struck me. Maybe, maybe we don't have a handle on what it means to be confident. And maybe we are confusing the words confidence and arrogance and making them synonymous when they are anything but synonymous.
They are not the same thing.
What is the difference between confidence and arrogance?
Confidence attracts other people. If you're confident you're content in your self-worth and you use this to drive and help others where arrogance excludes others. It's a used as a way to demotivate and demoralize other people. Have you ever seen someone arrogant in action? I'm sure you have. They're constantly tearing other people around in order to build themselves up. confident people attract people because they are quietly confident.
People who are genuinely confident, are not comparing themselves to others. They're happy with what they can achieve and they'll follow their own unique path where people who are arrogant feel the need to excel over everybody else, very often to the detriment of others.
Any success will be shouted down with something even more prestigious, whether it's true or not, in other words. Arrogant people will stretch the truth. They will make their achievement sound like much much more than it is we're confident people are just out there doing their thing.
Confidence is a positive attitude, and encouragement of others, while arrogance is a negative attitude and discouragement to others.
Arrogant people have an exaggerated sense of their importance. Is that arrogant people, they might work at the post office, but if you talk to them, they own the post office, right? Arrogant people literally run the entire business that they are working in. Arrogant people don't ever do anything wrong, arrogant people will put you down for everything while ignoring their own faults. Arrogant people are know it alls. They will argue everything in order to prove their point without ever listening to you because they have no interest in listening to others. And you won't need to ask an arrogant person about themselves because they will jump right in and tell you all about themselves. There's a quote that says this, “Arrogance requires advertising confidence speaks for itself.”
The truth is, arrogant people are not confident or empowered at all. They use their narcissism to shield their insecurity. After all, think about it. If you constantly remind people how awesome you are, they're never going to guess in a different niche. At least that's the way that the arrogant person thinks. The truth is most of us can see right through it, where a competent person is self-assured. Confident people know what they bring to the table and they don't need any external validation. They know who they are.
