GET REAL WITH YOURSELF
Time Flies—Are We Making It Count?
I turned 59 this year, and time is moving fast. The truth? We don’t have forever. And after facing major health challenges in 2021, I realized I had let go of my discipline. I stopped prioritizing my health, my business, and my personal growth. That changes now.
Overcoming Life’s Challenges
Many of you know my journey. 2021 was a year of trials—cancer, multiple surgeries, the loss of my mom, and a broken shoulder. It was a year that left me physically and emotionally drained. Some of what happened was beyond my control, but part of my struggle was the choices I made in response. I didn’t climb out as fast as I could have, and that’s a hard truth to face. But here’s the thing: grace is necessary, but so is action.
Embracing Change and Moving Forward
I can’t bring back my pre-surgery self. That version of me doesn’t exist anymore. And neither does the version of you from a year ago, a month ago, or even yesterday. But what we can do is take steps to create a healthier, stronger, more vibrant version of ourselves moving forward.
For me, that means taking back control of my habits. I used to be disciplined—waking up early, walking daily, strength training, fueling my body with what it needed. But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of those habits. It’s time to reclaim them.
Taking Ownership of Your Life
No one else is responsible for our growth but us. I’ve started working with functional and holistic doctors, researching how to optimize my health post-surgery. But at the end of the day, it’s my responsibility to show up, move my body, fuel it properly, and honor the commitments I make to myself.
This applies to every area of life. My business took a hit during my struggles, and if I’m honest, I haven’t put in the same level of effort as before. It’s time to change that. What about you? What areas of your life need a reality check?
Stop Breaking Promises to Yourself
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that breaking promises to myself is just as painful as someone else breaking a promise to me. It erodes trust. If I say I’m going to wake up at 5 AM, I need to honor that. If I commit to prioritizing my health, I need to follow through. It’s time to stop breaking our own hearts and start keeping our promises.
Shifting Your Mindset for Success
Transformation isn’t just about physical change—it’s mental, emotional, and spiritual. If we want different results, we have to take different actions. We were not put on this earth to merely exist; we are here to thrive, to serve, and to live with purpose.
We have nine months left in 2025. Let’s make them count. Let’s make a pinky promise right now that we’re going to shift our mindset, our actions, and our habits to create the future we desire.
I love you. I believe in you. Now, go out there and make a difference. See you next time on Coffee and Tea with CarrieVee!
