We cannot talk about energy if we are not going to talk about water. So let's talk briefly about water. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this. Because I know that you have all heard so much about water. How much water do we need? Why is water important? Well, let's talk about why we need water. Why do we need water, it's good for your skin helps reduce wrinkles, that's a good one. The bags under your eyes It keeps your skin bright and healthy. It also lubricates your joints and your brain your brain craves water it needs water. Water is water is something that brings blood and oxygen to every cell in your body. You need to have water it flushes toxins out of your body. Water is crucial. What counts as Water, water, water counts as water, not your milk metric coffee, not your tea. I know there are a lot of you could probably go to Google right now and say, Does coffee count as water and you're going to find something that says it does. To me. I believe strongly that your body craves good, clean, healthy water. Good, clean, healthy water, not a whole bunch of chlorine and chemicals. But good, clean water your body so craves water, it needs it for every system, every system, your digestion, your skin, your cognition, everything in your body needs water when you are dehydrated. You are not making good decisions. You are not you are not performing at your best if you want to have a great workout, make sure you're hydrated. Now, can people go overboard and drink too much water? Absolutely. It's not common.

But yes, it happens especially in high performance athletes. They will drink so much water that it dilutes the sodium in their body so much that they go into a condition called hyponatremia. And it is a serious condition. You don't want it. You don't need to drink so much water that you you will start to feel sick I have done it where I know that I've had too much water and you almost feel sloshy inside. It's not a good thing. So how much water is enough and how much water is too much? Well, if it's starting to make you feel nauseous, you've had too much water. Don't go overboard on it about half your body weight in ounces about that is a generalization. It's not a hard and fast rule. I don't want you to go get a calculator and take your Weight divided in half. And then the like looking at your water bottle all day long, like, Okay, I need to have so much more because half my body weight is 75 ounces, and I'm only at 73, I'm gonna have to shove down that last two ounces, I don't want you to get that crazy about it. Remember that about 20% if you're eating fruits and vegetables, about 20% of your water content is going to come through them unless you're eating them all dehydrated. And I don't want you to do that either. You're you're getting water from your fruits and vegetables. Watermelon cucumbers are so high celery, so high in water content, all of them have some natural water content in them. The other 80% is coming from what you drink.

So how do you know if you've got enough?

Well, water aids in digestion and in removing toxins from your body by way of desiccation, urination, perspiration, saliva, that's how it cleanses your body. So when you go to the bathroom, I want you to look at the color of your pee. If it is dark yellow, it's super dark yellow, you're dehydrated, you need to get more water in. If it is a pale yellow, you're right on, you don't have to. I know it's when you're tracking water in the beginning, it's good to track it. So you kind of get a feel for how much 75 ounces or 50 ounces or you kind of get what your body feels like with the approximation, the about half your body weight in ounces of water a day, you start to kind of feel what that feels like. For a while I was drinking a whole gallon of water a day and I tracked it. It was messing up with my digestion. It was too much for me. And I wore it like you know I was all proud of myself, Oh, I drank a gallon of water today. And I would talk about it like it was a good thing. It was too much for my body.

Except on days, I was sweating a ton. And there's another thing if you are perspiring a lot you need, you're gonna need more water. But here's the cool thing. Your body is so amazingly designed and created that it will tell you, your thirst will increase, your urine will turn a dark yellow and then you know, okay, I must, I must get more water into my system, your body will tell you if your urine is completely clear, you've got too much water going into your system. Your body is so so, so smart. Now, on that I wanted to tell you, when you get up in the morning, you're going to notice that your urine is much much darker. It's because you have been not drinking water, the entire seven to eight hours that you've been sleeping because you are we already talked about sleep. So for seven to eight hours, you haven't been drinking water unless you're waking up every hour taking a sip of water. So when you get up in the morning, you're in a dehydrated state. So rule of thumb when you get up in the morning, have eight ounces of water, start your day, put some fresh lemon in it. Even warm lemon water if you want to go that far, but squeeze some lemon in there and drink it up. You will be so energized because you will be rehydrating your body. It's like It's like pouring water on a on a dried up sponge and it kind of goes that's what your body is going to do. Every cell in your body is going to be singing hot new, y'all. It's gonna love that water that you're getting into it first thing in the morning, best time you can drink water. First thing when you get out of bed, grab your water, have it on your nightstand put it on your nightstand the night before and when you sit up on your bed. And you're going to be we're going to talk about journaling in the next in another module. You're going to pick up your journal you're going to have your lemon water right there and you're going to just drink it down. I'm telling you, it is going to so energize you it's going to transform the way your morning goes the way your day goes. Started off re hydrating your body question when I pee all the time? Yep, you sure? Well, you sure will, your body will eventually get a little used to it. But if you're drinking adequate water, yes, you should urinate probably about six cups of water a day or six cups of urine a day I'm sorry. So you're you're replacing that it is crucial. If you're not peeing. Often throughout the day, you're not giving your body enough water, you should not be able to go all day. And this is why when you travel another thing that water does is when you when it's flushing those toxins out. It protects you from kidney stones and UTI. So this would always happen to me I would get on a plane or get in a car. And because I don't like using restrooms on an airplane, and because I don't want to have to stop every hour when I'm traveling somewhere. I would completely almost eliminate my water consumption until I got where I was going. The problem is when I by the time I got where I was going I would have a raging urinary tract infection. If that's TMI, sorry, not sorry. But if I'm going to convince you how crucial water is for you, I need to share my own experiences with you. Water is important Even when you're traveling, especially when you're traveling, don't let yourself get dehydrated. Simply because you're out on a road trip or in an airplane, there are restrooms available, use them. If you're not paying regularly throughout your day, you are not drinking enough water, kidneys remove waste from your blood by way of your urine.

So if you're not peeing all the time, your kidneys are not able to do their job in removing that waste through your blood. It removes the earth bite from your blood, your kidneys work by removing waste from blood by way of urine, it takes it it washes it, it washes it, and then it pulls it out through your body and up it out. That's what dialysis does. My dad was on dialysis for a while where he would go and he'd be on a machine. And it would be doing the work of his kidneys actually cleaning his blood, cleaning his blood, that's what your kidneys aren't doing. So if you're not paying, your blood is not getting cleaned, you're walking around with dirty blood in your body. Think about that. When you're tempted to skip the water. or convince yourself you try to convince yourself I know you, I know you, you're trying to convince yourself that all the soda you're drinking counts as water, it does not. It does not all that sugar and caffeine does not count as water in your body. Water counts as water, water, fruits, vegetables, that's what's counting as water in your body. I cannot stress this enough. You need water if you want to have energy. If you want to be radically empowered, if you want to achieve your goals, you've got to have energy.

That's why this module is here to set this foundation. You need water need good, clean water regularly throughout the day. If you're not paying regularly, and it's pale yellow in color, you're not getting enough water. That is the easiest way to track it and your body is smart enough to know and to tell you when you are dehydrated. And when you are well hydrated. By the way, process things by the way you think by the color of your urine. be in tune with your body, I guarantee you is going to tell you what it needs. All right, about half your body weight in ounces of water every single day. You do not have to be neurotic about tracking it. But I do want you to make sure that you are feeling clear headed that you are not your your skin will get all flaky and dry if you're dehydrated as well and your urine will tell you everything you need to know. I know it's gross to turn around and look but you need to you need to you need to anyways tells you a lot.

So let's focus on the color of your urine. It should be pale yellow, pale yellow, you're getting enough water. And we're going to come back and we're going to talk about one of my favorites, fitness and nutrition.
