Amino Acids with Shelly Jo Wahlstrom Part 3 - Tyrosine
Shelly Jo Wahlstrom and I sat down to continue the conversation for Part 3 of our series on Amino Acids.
We will be discussing Tyrosine, an important amino acid in our bodies.
WHAT IS TYROSINE?
Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid that is an important component for the production of several important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
WHY IS TYROSINE IMPORTANT?
Tyrosine is changed to a substance called dopa, and then into dopamine. Dopamine affects many parts of our behaviors such as learning, motivation, and focus. Sometimes when we are low in energy we reach for caffeine or sugar for a quick pick-me-up, however, that is just going to cause us to crash eventually. Not to mention it is not great for our health!
WHY SHOULD WE SUPPLEMENT WITH TYROSINE?
Supplementing with Tyrosine will help with alertness, focus, motivation and sustained energy. Who doesn’t need help with that?
