Dave Moravec: A New Perspective of CarrieVee

Recently I was interviewed by my friend Dave Moravec. Such a fun twist that I wanted to share with you! Dave serves as President of the Colerain Chamber and has a background including 35 years of business ownership and leadership across multiple companies & industries. He was the chamber of commerce President in Hampshire, IL (outside of Chicago), owned his own printing business, and was involved in educational technology for 8 years.

Dave wanted to kick things off with a fun game: “If you know me, if you really know me and if you really, really know me, what three things would we know about Carrie?”

If you know me, you know that one of my favorite colors is yellow.💛 If you really know me, you know that personal development books are a passion of mine. And I own many! If you really, really know me, then you know that my natural tendency is to go to the negative. I work very hard on keeping a positive mindset, because it's not a natural thing for me.

Where does that negative come from? Is it self inflicted or coming from someplace else?

I think it is self inflicted and almost a self defense mechanism. If I stay on the negative side, fear can take over and I can stay in my comfort zone and not challenge myself. However, I've worked so hard on becoming positive that the negative will still creep in but I can get it out of my head much faster these days.

What kinds of things do you do when it's most challenging to tune out the negative?

I move my body. So I will take a walk, hop on the treadmill or put a dance video in. When I move, I immediately feel better. And when I feel better, it is easier to overcome that negativity. I was talking to a client about this the other day, it doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down. It matters how many times you get back up. 💪

Putting all of the pieces together really has led me to a platform for me to use my voice to help others which is such a passion of mine. I am so grateful that each and every one of you are here!
