Investing with Mike Sackmary

I had the pleasure of sitting down and having a very interesting chat with my good friend Michael Sackmary about investing. Michael is the President and CEO at Capital Finders - helping early-stage companies succeed at getting funded. He is a communicator, a leader, and a mentor.

Why is investing important? It generally isn’t an exciting topic, but it is nonetheless extremely important.

Investing is essential because it shapes your future. It is always good to enjoy the present, but financially we should also be preparing for our futures. Many people do not have the time or the knowledge on how to invest, therefore it is smart to get in touch with someone like a fiduciary fund manager.

What is a fiduciary fund manager?

A fiduciary fund manager is someone who manages property or money on behalf of someone else. The law requires the fiduciary to manage the person’s assets for the client’s benefit and not their own. This is a great place to start if you need some assistance in investing.

What is one good piece of advice you have learned over the years?

Never pull all of your money out of the stock market. If you leave it be (even if/when it takes a huge hit!) it has the opportunity to end up doubling or more. So as long as you can hold out, you should. And never pull it all out completely.

What is a good place to start if you have a little bit of money to invest now?

Go to https://www.treasurydirect.gov/ and get what are called I bonds. Series I savings bonds protect you from inflation. With an I bond, you earn both a fixed rate of interest and a rate that changes with inflation. These are great for a time such as now, when inflation rates are up to 9%.

I encourage you to look into your investments today! If you feel overwhelmed, just remember there are plenty of people out there to help. Michael included!
