Resiliency with Michael Sackmary
I am so excited to say that I recently interviewed my friend, Michael Sackmary. Michael is the President and CEO at Capital Finders - helping early-stage companies succeed at getting funded. He is a communicator, a leader, and a mentor. We discussed one of my favorite topics: resiliency and how to tap into it.
Michael’s advice began with listing somethings to ask yourself: “What are your core beliefs? What are you grounded in?” When we know our baseline (for some this is their faith) then we can drive our resiliency from there.
The next tip he shared was to never be afraid to learn something new and useful from somebody that thinks differently than you. We can have meaningful conversations where we don't believe the same things as those around us. This doesn’t have to become points of disagreement, but instead they become points of discussion. That adds resiliency as well.
We are all looking for connection. However, sometimes we find ourselves looking in the wrong places. Michael likes to connect with people (especially regarding his passion of helping people in business). He has discovered that the people that helped him the most are the kinds of people to whom he can provide the most help to. Interesting, right?
Resiliency comes from life experience. When things happen to us, there is always a lesson to be learned. And then we have choices, right? We can take those lessons and move forward or we can dwell in the negative space. What are you going to choose?
